Ong Bà

Branding, Illustration, Product Design, Packaging | Feb-Apr 2025 In Vietnamese, "Ông" means grandpa while "Ong" (pronounced the exact same way) means bee. “Ông bà” means “grandparents”, and this Ong Bà blind box collection is all about these grandbugs spending time with their grandbabees! Each bumblebee in this collection is an endangered species that's just about as near and dear and endangered to us as our own grandparents are. Ong Bà focuses on appreciating those who are currently with us rather than waiting until it's too late and they've gone to the great beeyond. Whether or not you’re currently a grandbabee yourself, let’s celebrate taking care of those who’ve taken care of us. This project aims to raise awareness about endangered bee species via cute, story-packed illustrations and emotional connection to the audience. Part of the proceeds would be donated to the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation.

Why blind boxes?

Blind boxes are currently a very popular commodity for both young and middle-aged audiences whom this product would resonate the most with. By introducing it as a collectible product rather than an informational and education-based, consumers are less intimidated by the amount of information they're getting. Furthermore, even if consumers aren't fully invested in the informational part of the product, having part of the proceeds go to charity would still have their purchase support the cause.
